CC BID Letter To Will Harvey

The following letter was e-mailed to IMVU's Will Harvey today. We will work towards an immediate follow up communication of an agenda of developer business growth and development concerns as assimilated from issues of concern posted on the forums by large numbers of developers over the past several months. Your input would be most valuable not only in the compilation of this document, but also in prioritizing the agenda items included.

Thank you in advance for your participation.

Subject: Introducing the Content Creators Business Interests Development (CC BID) Group

Dear Mr. Harvey,

I am writing to introduce you to the newly formed Content Creators Business Interests Development(CC BID) group. Our primary mission is to advocate the business interests of Internet content creators.

To that end our activities will include:

• Working together with Internet content creators (CC) to clearly define their business goals and objectives and to develop plans of action towards their achievement.

• Identifying and connecting CCs with available information, material and institutional resources toaid their business growth and development through increased knowledge and skills in the areas of business planning, development and operations.

• Building a network of US and international business consultants and advisors from the academic and corporate intellectual property law communities to provide CCs with an in depth knowledge of their legal rights and responsibilities as business owners.

• Building and foster effectively open lines of communication between CCs and the companies which use their service towards the improvement of activity planned and/or implemented which could adversely effect CC business operations.

• Collecting Internet content product, production and sales related data from a broad selection of social networking organizations through their CCs for the purpose of developing economic market and trend analysis to identify the highest and lowest performing companies in terms of economic opportunities for CCs.

• Building and fostering networks to link CCs with the widest possible selection of content creator business opportunities.

• Identifying areas of potential or actual rights violations and advocating for protection of the rights of content creators globally with their executive, legislative and judicial branches of government.

As an organization which uses the services of a very large number of Internet content creators who’s interests are represented by CC BID, we would like to establish and maintain an open and positive line of communication with IMVU towards the mutual benefit of IMVU’s content development objectives
and those of IMVU content creators who’s interests are represented by CC BID.

We’re a very new organization and feeling our way as we go. We urge your recognition of the fact that we are positioning to be an asset both to CCs and to your company as a source of readily available and current information on issues effecting the productivity and the profit making potential of CC
business operations.

With Best Regards,

Slnsual and ToraKuo

Greetings Developers

Welcome to the Content Creators Business Interests Development (CCBID)Group Blog!

March 04, 2008

Crickets

Yeah, yeah, I know… hellaciously long name, I got it… But, the point is, that we wanted to be sure that it was obvious what this blog was about, and why it’s here. This isn’t a personal blog, not by a long shot. This blog is all about you, the content creator.

Therefore, Sinsual and I, ToraKuo, decided that it would be best if the blog were a very open format, and very directly pointed towards what it’s about:

1. Content Creators on IMVU… Well, anywhere, actually come to think of it, but currently, we’re tackling IMVU. I hope it’s wearing some protective gear. :)

2. Business development, and of course, planning, as it pertains to Content Creators (hereafter referred to as “Developers”) who develop content and virtual goods for social networking internet sites.

3. Protecting the legal rights and business interests of Developers who create content and virtual goods for social networking internet sites.

So to that end, this is the first introductory post. Please register (though it’s not required) so that you can be apprised of updates to the blog and keep up on the current news and views as things unfold in the near future.

Thanks!

About CCBID

Photobucket

The Content Creators Business Interests Development (CCBID) Group was established in direct response to actions taken by IMVU management which could potentially have drastically adverse legal and financial effects on the business operations of IMVU virtual goods content creators.

This group was established as counter-step response to the censoriously over-riding and totalitarian attitude that developers encountered during their attempts at open "discussion" on these matters within the IMVU Forum structure.

Those so-called “discussions” ended with an IMVU staff request that the “peer-review” forum thread be shut down and locked.

This was by no means due to any inflammatory or unprofessionally presented posts on the part of developers, but rather that the staff of IMVU apparently couldn't tolerate people with strong intellectual abilities sharing realities with their staff, even in a polite and professional manner.

Consequently they seem to have thought “we’ll lock the thread, so now they can’t discuss it at all”. Well, they thought wrong. CCBID was born approximately 24 hours later on the 2nd of March and this blog was created to be the voice of CCBID on the 3rd of March, 2008.

CCBID was formed to act as a collective force with you, the developer content creators, to curtail the current trend of changes at IMVU that adversely effect developer business operations, and to agressively advocate for positive business growth and development oportunities for the developer community at large.

CCBID is committed to identifying, gathering, and bringing the necessary resources to bear towards educating interested developers on their legal responsibilities and rights and towards developing effective strategies to counter bad business maneuvers by a company that is hard-pressed to listen to anything besides the echo of their own voices.

We’re here for the developer. It doesn’t matter if you have created one sticker, one texture, one mesh, or 8,000 of any of it, your business success is important to us. We’re committed to advocate and foster your business growth and development and to protect your business rights. We hope to see you providing your input here and on the CCBID forum.
